In a shocking turn of events, a video of what seems like Chennai Super Kings captain MS Dhoni, got viral across the internet. In the video, he appears to be smoking a hookah in what seems to be a public gathering. The credibility and timing of the video cannot be verified. The blurry video which took the internet by storm has attracted mixed reactions from the netizens.
The 42-year old CSK captain is leading the franchise, securing their fifth title in the previous season by defeating the defending champions, Gujarat Titans. The former Indian captain, is well-known for his exceptional fitness level, attributed to a rigorous training regimen. It is unclear though whether it is the latest video or an old clip.

Players acquired by CSK in the IPL 2024 auction include Rachin Ravindra (Rs. 1.8 crore), Shardul Thakur (Rs. 4 crore), Daryl Mitchell (Rs. 14 crore), Sameer Rizvi (Rs. 8.40 crore), Mustafizur Rahman (Rs. 2 crore), and Avanish Rao Aravelly (Rs. 20 lakh).
Contribution of MS Dhoni in CSK’s triumph
Dhoni joined the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for $1.5 million in the IPL’s inaugural season auction. Leading CSK in the first IPL season, he took them to the finals. Under his captaincy, CSK won the 2010 IPL season and participated in the Champions League Twenty20. Chennai secured the 2010 Champions League title, with Dhoni contributing 392 runs. In 2011, he scored 2987 runs from 129 matches, leading CSK to its second consecutive IPL title. Dhoni also led CSK to its second Champions League Twenty20 title in 2014.
Dhoni returned to CSK in the 2018 season, guiding them to their third IPL title. He repeated the feat in 2021. Stepping down from CSK’s captaincy on March 24, 2022, Ravindra Jadeja took over. However, on April 30, 2022, Jadeja handed the captaincy back to Dhoni mid-season. Dhoni continued his success, leading CSK to victory in the 2023 IPL season. Under his captaincy, CSK became the most successful IPL franchise, winning five titles and reaching the finals ten times. Dhoni holds the record for playing 200 T20 matches for Super Kings, making him the player with the most appearances in the IPL.
